Teams can enter March 1st through April 19th or until full. Entries after April 19th will be fined a $10 late fee. No entry after April 25th.

 

Teams may enter more than once if they change a minimum of one team member.

 

The Rodeo reserves the right to restrict entries as outlined in the Event List and Rodeo Rules.

Call-In or Online Entry

Teams can enter the Roundup Ranch Rodeo through the Entry Portal below or by calling (406) 428-8768. Entry fees due at check-in.

Events List

The Roundup Ranch Rodeo will be a 1 day event. Each team will compete in Ranch Sorting, Branding, Team Penning, and Trailer Loading. See Event Rules below for details.

Contestant Check In

All teams will be required to check in before 9 am with the rodeo secretary. Each contestant must have a signed liability waiver on file before competing.

Enter Your Team 

The Roundup Ranch Rodeo contestants can enter the event from March 1st to a soft close of April 19th or until the books are full. Entries after April 19th will be fined a $10 late fee. No entries will be accepted after April 25th. Teams can enter more than once as long as one of the three team members is different. To enter, you must provide all team member's first and last names as well as your team name at time of entry. 

All teams will be sold Friday, May 1st, at the 50/50 Calcutta.

 

If you don't provide a team name and we have to name you, it might be "Two fat guys and a keeper". 

2026 Ranch Rodeo Event Rules

Ranch Sorting

  • Three person team

  • 10 head of cattle numbered zero through nine.  

  • 60 second time limit with 30 second warning

  • Your starting number will be announced three times when the rider’s horse breaks the start finish line plane.  The fastest time or most number sorted will determine the winner.  A number out of sequence or sorted number returns over the start/ finish line will result in a no time

Branding

  • Three person team

  • 10 head of cattle in the arena numbers zero through nine.  

  • 90 second time limit with 30 second warning

  • Time starts when horses head crosses the start /finish line

  • Sort your assigned number out behind the line at which time it can be headed and healed

  • Remove the head rope place on front feet.

  • After the animal is stretched, team member must remove the branding iron from the branding pot and place the brand on a designated location and must be legible.

  • Both ropes removed and branding member must replace the brand iron in the pot at which time ends.

Team Penning

  • Three person team

  • 30 head of cattle, consisting of three of the same numbers.

  • 90 second time limit with 30 second warning call.

  • Number will be given when horses head crosses the plane of the sort line.

  • Sort out three matching numbers from the herd.

  • Put your three cattle in the existing pen.   If there are no dirties beyond the start line you may call for time by raising your hand. Your horse's head must be inside the pen, but the body may not be inside the pen.  

  • You may call for time on 1, 2, or 3 head penned.

  • No more than four cattle can be over this start line at any time and a dirty must be brought back over the start line before calling for time. 

  • Wrong number penned will result in no time

Trailer Loading

  • Three person team

  • Two minute time limit, 30 sec. warning.

  • 20 head of cattle

  • Number called when the rider's horses head crosses start line.

  • Sort and load  2 head in the horse trailer.

  • Rope or herd cattle, teams discretion.

  • Time ends when the trailer door is closed and latched.

  • Choking down or excessive dragging will result in no time.

Need Stalls or Overnight Camping for the Event?

Stalls are available for $25 a night per horse beginning Friday night through Saturday night. Stall fees due at time of check-in. All horses must be removed from the fairgrounds no later than 12:00 pm Sunday afternoon.
